According to senior Ian Sandbo, Hamline University presented the perfect opportunity to continue his academic and athletic endeavors.

Sandbo said his commitment to Hamline University’s baseball program fulfilled one of his long-term goals.

“It is something I always wanted to do, to keep playing baseball as long as I could. It is fun,” Sandbo said.

According to head baseball coach Brian Kelly, Sandbo’s work ethic is a large factor in him reaching this point in his athletic career.

“His work ethic really got him to where he is right now and just that internal drive,” Kelly said.

Sandbo said when comparing post-secondary options Hamline stood out as the best fit.

“I just (considered) the options I had, as far as some other schools maybe not as interested, and this was a better fit as far as everything,” Sandbo.

According to Kelly, Sandbo’s confidence has grown through the Park baseball program, specifically in the last two years.

“I’ve seen from last summer to now his aggressiveness and his ownership over

second base (and him growing) the confidence to go out there and perform and understand that he belongs,” Kelly said.
