According to senior baseball player Brent Ryan, after visiting DePauw University in the fall he immediately felt at home.

Ryan said in addition to the comfortable atmosphere of the school he felt positively about the baseball program.

“I really like the coaching staff and all the players on the team. So for me it was really easy to decide,” Ryan said.

Baseball head coach Brian Kelly said he commends Ryan for playing both high school baseball and high school hockey, while still choosing to play collegiate baseball.

“He identified baseball as the sport he wanted to play college early on,” Kelly said.

Kelly said Ryan is currently dealing with a wrist injury, but the team looks forward to having him back on the field as soon as possible.

His role will be to get healthy,” Kelly said. “Whenever Brent is ready, we’ll be here with open arms welcoming him back.”

According to Ryan, he expects the experienced high school team will have a chance at making the State Tournament during the upcoming season.

“I’m looking forward to the fact that we will be an older team, and more experienced. We should be pretty good this year and maybe make a run for state which we haven’t done in a while so it’ll be fun,” Ryan said.
