After baseball took an 8-3 win over Minneapolis South in a sections game, junior John Sheehy said Park had no other option than to win.

“It’s a pretty big game here coming off the loss on Saturday, it’s a must-win situation,” Sheehy said. “We went into the game thinking it was going to be a good game.”

Sophomore Ryan Moran said the team met his expectations going into the game.

“I know every day that everyone’s going to come out and try their hardest and carry,” Moran said. “That’s what they did today.”

Head coach Brian Kelly said the team was able to bounce back after a couple of mishaps early in the game.

“We all made some mistakes in the bottom of the first and in the second inning, myself included,” Kelly said. “We all bonded over that and I was really proud of how they hung in there.”

Moran said his teammates were a key factor in Park’s win.

“We have a great pitcher behind us,” Moran said. “We have a great defense, (Eli) Puchner had an outstanding play. I trust our whole team.”

Kelly said Park excelled in every part of the game, which led to their win over South.

“We had a lot of good at-bats, pitching and defense,” Kelly said. ”We played our first complete game in a little while.”

Park baseball’s next game will be against Edina at 7 p.m. June 7 at Parade Stadium.
