The boys should be doing a little more than celebrating after three consecutive wins for St. Louis Park.

The boys played Bloomington Jefferson on Friday February 6th, at St. Louis Park high school at 7:00 pm. According to the boys captains Ray Whitlock, Wes Johnson and Nick Kjos, the boys were down most of the game.

“During the game, the other team played a zone, which is when there isn’t a specific man to guard so you just guard whoever is in your area. That made it harder for us to score,” Whitlock said.

The boys tried to get closer to the score from Bloomington Jefferson on the scoreboard, but never could get ahead with a strong lead.

Near the end of the game, the boys managed to hit a few shots at the end to get the score at a difference of three. With only 10 seconds left, Ray Whitlock hit a three to tie the score of 75-75, which sent the teams into overtime. Senior captain Nick Kjos was the top scorer for the game with 24 points.

“Our coaches kept on telling us that we could win this game if we gave it all we have which I think really set the bar on what they wanted us to do,” added Whitlock.

In overtime with only 4 minutes left, senior Jason Keller hit 6 free throws in a row, which gave the boys the win with only a two point lead. The end score was 77-75, St. Louis Park with the win.
