For five years, Bridgid Hoppmann greeted and helped students, coaches and parents  with their everyday athletic needs. As she looks back on her experiences at Park, Hoppmann said the time she has spent in the district creates a feeling that her job is more than just a job.

“Prior to the high school I worked at Peter Hobart for five years,” Hoppmann said. “My time in Park has entailed a lot of interactions with different people, and that is why I’m still here.”

In the athletic department, Hoppmann’s responsibilities vary fathletic-departmentrom dealing with administrative work, coaches’ payrolls and sports questions. She said although it can be tiring, the incentive comes with being around students.

“The students and the interactions I make with them are the best part of my job,” Hoppmann said. “From friends of my children, to students I have gotten to know over the years, it’s great to talk and occasionally laugh with students.”

However, as much as Hoppmann enjoys the presence of students in the school, she said she would like to see more school spirit from the student body.

“If there was something I could change it would be the amount of school spirit, because we have some good sports teams, but not many people go to games or events to support their classmates,” Hoppmann said.

Hoppman said she tries to encourage school spirit through her interactions with students, however she thinks it comes down to the student body’s school spirit.

“We can try promoting school sports as much as we like, however, it comes down to the students to help promote the teams and event attendance,” Hoppmann said. “We have a great community of students, teachers and adults, and it would be great to see them all come together to support our teams.”
