In the life of Fellowship of Christian Athletes member sophomore Rafferty Kugler, religion presents a source of guidance to become a better athlete, student and person.

“It helps me think more about the purpose of what I’m doing and it gets me to a better place in my life,” Kugler said.

Kugler said she likes the sense of community the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) provides her and all the other members.

“I love how the community of students can come together to talk about their sports and their faith,” Kugler said.

Junior Anya Lindell Paulson, one of the four leaders of the club, said she enjoys directing the development of the club this year.

“It’s really cool being a part of something that’s so important to me,” Paulson said.

For students interested in the club, Paulson said students should come to see that it is a comfortable environment.

“The FCA is a really good place to talk about faith in sports and is always interesting and fun,” Paulson said.

FCA adviser Tim Sension said the next meeting will focus on what it means to be a Christian athlete.

“We are going to help the kids figure out the difference between being an athlete who happens to be a Christian, but being a Christian athlete,” Sension said.

Sension said the next meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in room B112.
