Park Yogurt spices up its menu

Shop now offers hot chocolate

While some students may dismiss Park Yogurt as an option this winter wanting a warmer snack, the shop is now offering make-your-own hot chocolate to heat up the cold winters.

Owner Nancy Pettit said she decided to add hot chocolate to the menu because of demand.

“I had a lot of people ask to do it, and I had a lot of people ask for coffee, so I decided while I’m doing one, I might as well do the other and the adults like to have a coffee,” Pettit said. “It’s taking off slowly, but I’m noticing as it gets colder, more and more is going out.”

Pettit said that customers get to customize their drink to their liking with their wide variety of toppings which include, but are not limited to, whipping cream, caramel, marshmallows, crushed candy and Andes mint chocolate. The price per cup is $2.50 plus tax.

“There’s three different bases: milk chocolate, peppermint chocolate and dark chocolate. So once a person picks out their base we brew the hot cocoa, then we leave room on the top so they can pick their toppings,” Pettit said.

However, Pettit said this new addition to the menu won’t be permanent.

“It will probably just be a winter thing, but coffee will probably always be around,” she said.

Sophomore Raina Arntson said she thinks students will like the new menu item, and said she thinks it is a good idea.

“I think it’s great because it gives people the opportunity to make something other than frozen yogurt and it’s perfect for warming up on a cold day,” Arntson said.
