Junior Ben Romain said he is excited Paisley Park is open to the public and is eager to take a tour so he can get an inside look into how Prince recorded his music.

“It’s important to have museums to commemorate (Prince) because he is an important figure in music and he recorded in an interesting way,” Romain said.

According to a representative at Paisley Park, the museum opened Oct. 6 and offers two types of tours, a general admissions tour and a VIP tour. On both tours, guests can see the main rooms and recording studios. The VIP tour takes place in smaller groups and allows visitors to see more of Prince’s rooms and studios.

“In both tours, you will see that main floor where you will find all those creative spaces, like the recording studios and music venues. The VIP tours are much smaller and in the VIP tours, you actually visit a few different rooms,” the Paisley Park representative said. “One of (the rooms visited in the VIP tour) is a space called the editing bay, because as it turns out, Prince recorded nearly every aspect of his professional life. On the VIP tours you also visit Studio B and there are a couple of fun perks in that space for VIP guests.”

Sophomore Beck Bergland, who visited the Paisley Park museum, said he saw many visitors honoring Prince’s memory.

“People had brought in tributes they had to (Prince) and they were all displayed and people were looking over them,” Bergland said.  “There were a bunch of older people and you could tell they were very passionate about it all.”

Romain said Paisley Park is an important part of Minnesota music history and inspires audiences to pursue music.

“It helps preserve the culture of Minnesota,” Romain said. “I think having (Paisley Park) adds a lot to the music scene in Minnesota because people can see Prince and see that he’s from Minnesota and be inspired and think, ‘I can do this too’.”

According to the representative, the museum is not only a good place for music enthusiasts, but also a place for people of many interests to come and learn about the impact Prince’s music had on the world and more specifically the Minneapolis community.

“His musical and social contributions really will have a lasting impact on music lovers for generations, so I think people who are really interested in music in general are really interested in spending some time at the museum,” the Paisley Park representative said. “I certainly encourage anybody to come and visit, whether you’re a Prince fan or not, because there’s definitely something you’re going to take away from this.”
