3 things to do now that the weather is warming up
New and interesting activities
April 29, 2022
Now that the weather is getting warmer and COVID-19 restrictions are mostly gone, it’s time to get out of the house. This winter has been excruciatingly long and seemed to go on forever, but now that the snow is finally melting and the sun is shining, it’s a great time to go out and experience the world in a new light.
Westwood Hills Nature Center:
After two years of staying inside and staring at screens it’s finally a great time to embrace nature and explore the outdoors. Westwood Hills nature center offers educational exhibits, a 1.90 mile hiking trail and a picnic area. All of these events are free and open to anyone. One of their more popular exhibits shows how pollinators like Bees are an important part of our ecosystem. Westwood Hills nature center prohibits picking any plants or feeding any wildlife. Westwood Hills nature center is a great opportunity to learn more about the world and get out of your house to do something fun.
Can Can Wonderland:
Can Can Wonderland is an indoor mini golf with artist-designed holes, vintage arcades and a food court. The mini golf court has 18 holes, all with interactive capabilities and a skill level range between easy and difficult. They also have an arcade that is full of quirky games and a food area that serves pizza, milkshakes and anything else you could want. Can Can Wonderland is located in St Paul and is easy to spot because there is a giant red arrow pointing to the door. Overall Can Can Wonderland is an interesting and quirky place filled with fun things to do with your friends or family.
Gardening:
If getting out of the house is difficult or these places are too far away, a fun way to celebrate nature is to start a garden at home. You can easily pick up some seeds at a local store or save the seed from a peach or apple. Gardening has been proven to improve attention spans by helping you focus on a specific project which can be useful with tests and assignments. If you consider yourself a beginner gardener it’s pretty easy to pick up an already existing plant and take care of it until it blooms more fully. Either option is very rewarding and it’s a fun experience to see something you took care of reach its full potential.
