‘Letter to Nipsey’ – Meek Mill ft. Roddy Ricch ★★★☆☆

This song featuring Roddy Ricch is a tribute to the late Ermias Joseph Asghedom, also known as Nipsey Hussle. The beat gives off an upbeat feeling, while the lyrics bring in the emotion, which shows the pain and rue Mill is feeling about his friend’s sudden death. Having Roddy Ricch come in during the chorus was great in that it furthered the sentimental feeling to Nipsey. The lyrics in the chorus pull you in as you sympathize with Ricch. In the second verse, Ricch shouts out Hussle and fellow artists Cobby Supreme, BH and Pacman da Gunman to honor Hussle’s legacy. Overall, the song really hits home for these rappers, which helped emotionally connect the lyrics to them.

‘Godzilla’ – Eminem ft. Juice WRLD ★★★★☆

While collaborating with Juice WRLD, Eminem released “Godzilla.” These rap verses are exceptional, with consistency and good tempo. Just when you thought Eminem couldn’t rap any faster, he does. At his fastest, Eminem raps an incredible 10.6 syllables per second, which is just slightly faster than his verse in Nicki Minaj’s “Majesty,” where he clocked in at about 10.3 syllables per second. To put this into perspective, Eminem rapped about 9.6 syllables in “Rap God”, which is famously known for its pace. The speed of Eminem’s rapping was a total boost to the song.  Juice WRLD’s verses fuel the energy that Eminem’s verses give off. I believe this song has a lot of hidden gems in the lyrics like, “I stack chips, you barely got a half-eaten Cheeto”, and is very well written. Overall, I really enjoyed the lyrics and the beat. 

‘Walls’ – Louis Tomlinson ★★★☆☆

“Walls” is the title track of Louis Tomlinson’s new album. The song overall has a smooth, melodic feeling to it. I like how Tomlinson’s vocals match the energy to the beat, which gives the song a soothing and calm vibe. Tomlinson does a great job of controlling the vibe while pushing the message he is trying to convey in the lyrics. Even though I certainly enjoyed listening to this song, I personally believe if the artist’s name wasn’t Louis Tomlinson, it wouldn’t be as popular. I say this because the song just sounds like a casual, generic pop song.
