The St. Paul Winter Carnival is returning again this year with both well-known and unexpected events. One traditional activity is the ice sculpture contest in Rice Park. In addition, the Winter Carnival features some lesser-known events such as the Judy Garland look-alike contest. Most activities are free and are at locations in or near downtown St. Paul.
Feb. 5 – 17
The Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon” is coming to the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis as part of its first national tour. The show, a satirical comedy by the creators of “South Park,” follows two Mormon missionaries sent to a village in Uganda being threatened by a warlord. Feb. 14
“A Good Day to Die Hard” is coming to theaters as the fifth installment in the “Die Hard” series. In the film, protagonist John McClane (Bruce Willis) travels to Russia in an attempt to free his estranged son, Jack (Jai Courtney), from prison, but quickly gets caught in a terrorist plot. The film is rated R and will play in most theaters.
