Students can experience the adventures of Jack and Rose at this year’s Prom as they climb aboard the Titanic themed boats, according to tenth grade Student Council representative Jessica Schmidt.

The venue consists of two Padelford boats connected by a walkway, with one boat designated for dancing and the other for socializing. Students should plan on arriving at the docks on Harriet Island early, as the boats will embark on their journey promptly at 9 p.m.

Students who miss boarding will not be able to attend Prom.

One aspect Schmidt said she hopes will attract students to attend Prom this year, is the announcement of the Titanic theme.

“Overall, it is a really talked-about movie. It is one of the classics,” Schmidt said. “My hope is that [students] will respond positively.”

Student Council adviser Sarah Lindenberg said the decorations adorning the boats are the primary means by which the Student Council hopes to recreate the Titanic experience.

“They [centerpieces] are going to have a rose in the middle in a vase, and then seashells to show the nautical Titanic type of theme,” Lindenberg said.

Lindenberg said she hopes the theme will provide students the opportunity to live out the Jack and Rose dream by celebrating this well-known movie. A photo booth and a tentative photo op will give students the chance to feel they are aboard the Titanic.
