Competitive Powder Puff kicks off Homecoming week

Senior team ‘3peat’ wins Monday night event

The energy was high as two-year reigning team 3peat jumped in a huddle after winning the Powder Puff football tournament 28-7 tonight at Oak Hill park. Powder Puff was the first event of this year’s Homecoming week, hosted by Student Council.

Within the first round of games, senior Katelyn Lanoux scored two of the team’s three touchdowns. Their first round score was 21-0 against The Ninjas. Meanwhile, team Cool Beans won against team We R Animals. Senior Carly Livingston ran in several touchdowns for team Cool Beans throughout the tournament.

In the second set of games, losers The Ninjas and We R Animals played each other with The Ninjas winning 14-7.

As the teams warmed up, first-time Powder Puff attendee, junior Eva Goldfarb said she was excited for the games to begin.

“It’s just fun to be able to watch people when everybody’s having fun,” Goldfarb said.

Football enthusiast and science teacher Peter Dangerfield said he was happy to see that everyone showed up and enjoyed the night.

“We’re just having a good time, enjoying each other’s company and getting ready for Homecoming,” Dangerfield said.

Winning team member senior Martha Walton said she was glad her team could prove themselves.

“The stereotype for girls is not to be rough, but we’re all girls being rough and participating in something that is a hard sport,” Walton said.

Badminton, the next Homecoming event, takes place at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the high school gym.
