To celebrate a yearlong class tradition before school ends, senior Jake Henry said his seventh hour math class decided to have a bake off June 1. Henry said he suggested the idea of a bake off after watching a TV show.

“I started watching ‘The Great British Bake Off’ and I was like ‘let’s have a bake off’ so we’re having a bake off,” Henry said. “It ended up being wedding-themed, because Ms. Forsberg is getting married over the summer.”

Math teacher Amanda Forsberg said the class has had food on Fridays since first semester.

“They started this thing back in first semester where we should have ‘Food Fridays’ to make Fridays a fun day,” Forsberg said.

Senior Ella Trotter said she made a double layer white cake with buttercream frosting and strawberries on top for the bake off. According to Trotter, class excitement ran high prior to the bake off.

“It’s kind of a big deal, not going to lie,” Trotter said. “We’ve been planning it for about to weeks. We always bring food but the bake off is extra special, so people have been really excited.”

After a class vote, senior Eitan Grad won the bake off with his confetti cake, according to Forsberg.
