It is almost time for students to sign up for next year’s classes, and many students need help figuring out what to do or need a second opinion. Here are some of Park’s students and staff’s recommendations.
Engineering teacher Mark Miller said he recommends engineering because students learn by making their own solutions.
“Well I am definitely a little biased, I would recommend any of the engineering classes,” Miller said. “They’re hands-on and problem-based.”
Junior Tanner Halley said engineering stood out to him and he thinks students should pick something that stands out to them.
“Just try something you’re interested in,” Halley said. “I thought engineering sounded cool, so I picked that.
Senior Brennan Anderson said he is taking AP (Advanced Placement) Economics and he thinks juniors should take the course.
“For juniors, I’m taking AP Econ right now. I like that class,” Anderson said. “You should pick that one.”
Miller said he recommends taking construction and physics classes because they are great for your future.
“If I had to go back into high school again I would personally take physics,’” Miller said. “I would also take some construction classes where kids learn how to think outside the box and use some tools that they’re going to be able to use in the future.”
Halley said picking courses is simple — since he likes sports, he found that team sports are best for him.
“Registering for classes is pretty easy,” Halley said. “I really like sports so I (picked) done team sports.”
Anderson said he recommends English IB (International Baccalaureate) Lang & Lit SL (Standard Level) and said the class is worth the two years of taking it.
“English IB Lang & Lit SL is a two-year course. I’m on the second year, (it’s a) great class,” Anderson said. “I think they are both good classes both years.”
Class registration will start later in 2nd semester.
