The NHS student candidates approached the end of the first quarter with friendly meetings and volunteering to establish a strong base for the rest of the semester.

Junior Rosa Hu is a first time candidate for NHS and said she is looking forward to the opportunities it presents and reaching out to more people.

“At our last meeting we were put into tables and I got to meet some new people, it’s nice to meet people I wouldn’t otherwise through NHS,” Hu said.

NHS requires students to put in certain hours of volunteering to improve themselves and the community.

“I knew coming into it that it would be community service, but I like the atmosphere of the group and how the activities are fun and helpful to the community,” Hu said.

Hu said she is looking forward to becoming more involved in the community and being admitted into NHS at the end of the year.
