National Honor Society plans to bag groceries at Cub
Fundraiser to provide funds for Dollars for Scholars
January 3, 2016
According to advisor Jenny Magdal, when Dollars for Scholars reached out to National Honor Society (NHS) last year to help with fundraising, they decided to give assistance because of the help Dollars for Scholars provides for Park students.
“Dollars for Scholars came to us asking if we would be able to raise some funds for them and we decided that this is a project we wanted to take on,” Magdal said.
The organization Dollars for Scholars raises funds to provide scholarships for students at Park and other schools across America. It raises funds by receiving money from community members.
Senior and officer of public relations Jack Reddan said NHS members plan to fundraise for Dollar for Scholars by bagging groceries at Cub Foods.
“We will be raising money by bagging bags at Cub and the money earned from the time we were there will go to Dollar for Scholars,” Reddan said. “Dollars for Scholars relies on fundraising to help the scholarships,
and NHS wants to help Dollar for Scholars be as successful as possible.”
Reddan said to prepare for the fundraiser, NHS explained more information about the event by spreading the word to everyone.
“We distributed fliers on Friday and we have been informing by word of mouth along with a Facebook post soon to be sent by members along with getting info in the school newsletter,” Reddan said.
The fundraiser takes place Jan. 4 at Cub Foods in The Shoppes at Knollwood. NHS members encourage anyone in the St. Louis Park community to come to Cub Foods to support the fundraiser for Dollar for Scholars.
