Senior Daniella Etzion, the only member of the Architecture, Construction and Engineering club, said she enjoys competing against local chapters of the club.

“(My favorite part is) when we go to competition and see other schools compete and you also see your own finished product,” Etzion said. “It helps you know what you’re going to do in the field in the future.”

Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) adviser Al Wachutka said volunteers mentor club members at schools nationwide.

“ACE is a mentorship program where different engineering, construction and architecture firms work with groups of students from metro area high schools,” Wachutka said. “What we look for are people that might like to go into architecture engineering, or construction so you’ll learn more about what opportunities exist there.”

Etzion said the club schedule varies every meeting.

“(It) depends on what we’re focusing on during the day,” Etzion said. “I know we have a schedule we go through and so depending what that is, we focus each meeting on something else. So sometimes we’ll focus on construction, sometimes we’ll focus on engineering, or something else.”

According to Wachutka, the first meeting will take place sometime in October.

“I don’t know when we’ll first meet. It’ll probably be sometimes in early October and people just have to listen, and talk to me about when we’ll first meet, but anyone tenth through twelfth grade (can come),” Wachutka said.

Meetings take place after school until 5 p.m Thursdays in the art tech room.
