According to junior Feminism Club co-president Ally Feller, the club will be working on an initiative with the ACT Club.

“Feminism Club is partnering with ACT and we’re trying to get city council to agree on an initiative,” Feller said.

Junior Yoni Potter said he likes that the two separate clubs working together on one common goal.

“I think it’s good for different people to cooperate on the same goal and bring people together. I don’t see any downsides to it,” Potter said.

Feminism Club had been hoping to team up with a volunteering group, according to Feller.

“They came up to us and asked if we wanted to partner with them,” Feller said. “They knew we have been looking for people to partner with and volunteer with.”

According to Feller, there are positive and negative aspects of bringing two separate clubs together.

“A pro is getting to work with another club to help each other get things done,” Feller said. “A con is that we’re two separate clubs and we don’t have the same mindset.”

Potter said he hopes that new people from various backgrounds and others who are less educated on the topic of feminism get involved with the club.

“One goal is definitely to diversify the group of people who go to the club,” Potter said. “Also to get people who are not as well educated in what feminism really is, to go to the club and learn from other people about feminism.”

Potter said he has enjoyed getting more involved in the club and would recommend the club to anyone willing to join,

“I would absolutely recommend the club, even to someone who might not be as aware or as knowledgeable because there are people who we want to educate and enlighten.”

According to Feller, the club meets every other Thursday morning from 8 until 8:40 a.m. in room B320 and the next meeting is planned for the week of Dec. 20th.
