Choir performs first concert of the year

Park’s choir sang at their first concert of the year Oct. 27. Instead of the high schoolers singing solo, the middle schoolers joined in next to them. According to choir teacher John Myszkowski, despite the limited amount of preparation, the choir performed well.
“(It went) exceedingly well, (it’s) hard music to do in a month and a half and they only sing all together today, so (it went) beyond (my) expectations,” Myszkowski said.
Junior Madeline Buss said that regardless of how easy or difficult the music was to learn leading up to the performance, she thought she performed well.
“I liked that I was able to get all the notes that I needed to hit,” Buss said. “I enjoyed pretty much all the songs. I really liked ‘Wanting Memories’ because it was interesting to sing.”
Sophomore Declan Gaines said he enjoys the environment the choir provides as well as the opportunity to learn new music.
“Being in the choir is super fun because they are a really fun group of people to be around,” Gaines said. “I’m glad I get the chance to learn all of the new songs in the class.”
Junior Ava Kastl said she was appreciative of the variety and difficulty of the songs.
“I liked ‘Wanting Memories’ because it was significantly easier to learn,” Kastl said. “For ‘Sobran Bushi,’ we didn’t have all the resources and materials we needed to complete it.”
Myszkowski said that there’s a lot of space for growth in the sixth grade choir in terms of performing together especially before they get to the high school.
“Park singers (6th grade choir) are very young so they haven’t quite gotten the thing of (like) meshing together but leaps and bounds in just a month,” Myszkowski said.
Park choir is set to have another concert in December but a date has not been determined yet.
