Schwietering’s interim title taken off

Removal of interim makes her permanent assistant principal

Last summer marked the beginning of a search for a new principal and assistant principal, according to newly named assistant principal Kari Schwietering.

Schwietering was named interim assistant principal at the beginning of this year, which meant that she would act as assistant principal while the school board searched for a permanent one.

As of last week, the school board completed its search for assistant principal and named Schwietering the official assistant principal.

“This summer I applied for interim status and got it,” Schwietering said. “Since then, last week the school board voted and took the (interim) name off so that it would become a permanent position.”

Although she is now the permanent assistant principal, Schwietering’s current responsibilities do not change. The only thing changing is the title in front of Schwietering’s name.

“I’m moving along as it has been. The only difference is that it becomes no longer interim and is more permanent,” Schwietering said.

Freshman Nicole Sanford doesn’t know Schwietering well, however, she is  excited about Schwietering’s new permanence. Sanford said she believes nothing will change with the new title and if anything does it will be a good change.

“I think she’ll do great at it,” Sanford said. “I don’t know her that well, but I see her frequently in the halls and she is very friendly and committed to her job.”
