Elections for the At-Large A and At-Large B City Council seats were two of the many decisions facing St. Louis Park voters Nov. 3.

Steve Hallfin ran unopposed for the At-Large A seat, and won over 97 percent of the vote, according to the office of Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon.

In the tightest election of the evening, businessman and “Safety in the Park” cofounder Thom Miller defeated Sara Maaske, who was the manager for mayor-elect Jake Spano’s city council campaign in 2011.

According to the Secretary of State’s office, Miller won about 54 percent of the vote, compared to Maaske’s 45 percent as of 10:36 p.m. Nov. 3, with all 16 precincts reporting.

The Democratic-Farmer-Labor party supported both Miller and Maaske, according to the candidates’ respective campaign websites.

Miller won the majority of votes in only six of the precincts, with Maaske carrying the other 10, according to Simon’s office. However, Miller won three of the four precincts with more than 400 voters.

Both City Council seats are held for four-year terms. The City Council will certify the election results Nov. 9, according to the City of St. Louis Park website.
