Trial of middle school assistant postponed

The trial of middle school assistant Jarrell Smith was further postponed, with a settlement conference scheduled for Nov. 7, according to Hennepin County Attorney’s Office media coordinator Chuck Laszewski.

Laszewski said the trial was moved due to the preoccupation of the court’s attorney with another trial.

According to Laszewski, the trial was initially scheduled for May 31, yet was postponed to Sept. 26 due to scheduling conflicts.

Smith was charged in Nov. 2015 with criminal sexual conduct.
