Park has a very diverse lunch menu, with food that has a variety of flavors for every palate. Park has included lunches from different cultures, giving everyone a taste. Many of those lunches are amazing and bursting with flavors.
Almost everybody would agree that the orange chicken or General Tso’s chicken are, hands down, the best lunch. Everything is perfect with the lunch, with portion size, taste and how much it fills someone up. I grew up with orange chicken in schools, from elementary school until high school, and orange chicken has always been a staple in lunches. It has never failed as lunch in school. Park serves good portion sizes for lunch, and many sides are available so that you won’t go hungry after. The only thing I would say about the orange chicken is that I’ve seen a few pieces be gray or slightly darker than the rest of the chicken. But I’ve heard lunch attendants say it’s just dark meat.
The second-best lunch at Park is the beef sambusa with brown rice and peppered coleslaw. I get this almost every single time it’s available and it never disappoints. The only thing I would say is that I always have to get it with sauce because the beef sambusa with rice is always a little dry. It’s a good portion size for what they give you and I usually don’t go hungry after eating it. I like how seasoned the beef sambusa is. Even though many people don’t get the beef sambusa, I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to try a new school lunch.
The Swedish meatballs were an amazing dish. Even though Park hasn’t served them for a while, I thought they were really good. The last time they served the Swedish meatballs was at the start of the school year. If Park ever did bring them back, I hope they would make the portion size larger since they only give you four little balls and a fat scoop of mashed potatoes; otherwise, I couldn’t complain. It was well seasoned, and decent side options were available, along with the Swedish meatballs.
This lunch is debatable since it’s a hit-or-miss at times. The spicy chicken sandwich doesn’t count because it’s bland. The regular chicken sandwich could be perfect with a better crust—I dislike the thin and soggy crust that they serve. Occasionally, the lunch attendants just serve the chicken sandwich and not the fries, which isn’t the biggest deal but the fries make the meal more worth it. Plus, it’s incredibly dry, it has almost no flavor and it’s just a big chicken nugget that dries the mouth out. The chicken sandwich could be a top contender but it just doesn’t have enough going for it. It’s not that important to have lunch on the menu.
The chicken wings were the biggest letdown I’ve ever experienced in my lunch criteria. The wings are poorly seasoned; the lack of seasoning hurts the soul. I would gladly rank these higher if the wings were bigger and not so small. They are the size of a pinky and not worth getting unless you get double-ups, as well as the dry butter biscuit that you have to drown with water or milk after since it’s basically a scone. The wings would win this by a landslide only if they were bigger; at the moment, it’s just not worth it to get them. Overall, I love wings, but they’re not worth the energy or enough to fill me up for lunch.
