Planned Parenthood should be able to continue their work
Women deserve to have access to the organization

Congress wants to defund Planned Parenthood following the release of videos showing workers selling fetal tissue to researchers, but this would be a mistake. Women deserve to have the right to go anywhere they want for an abortion and other services.
The videos that surfaced came from an anti-abortion group that believes Planned Parenthood should be defunded. These videos could have come from anywhere and they could have hired actors for the roles. They are unreliable.
According to Fox News, Planned Parenthood has denied breaking any laws and said payments discussed in the videos relate to reimbursement costs for procuring the tissue, which is legal.
Abortion is legal in the United States which means women have the decision to get an abortion if they so choose. That also means once they get an abortion, Planned Parenthood has the right to do whatever they want with the fetus.
According to CBS News, the 327,653 abortions Planned Parenthood clinics perform each year make up just 3 percent of the total services the group provides.
The other 97 percent of services Planned Parenthood provides are non-abortion related. Planned Parenthood provides women with cancer screenings, STD tests and other services to help women get back on their feet.
With those videos all over the internet, it gave Senator Joni Ernst and the rest of her GOP members the chance to come up with a bill to try and defund Planned Parenthood. Just as the bill was proposed it was shot down and the Senate voted against ending federal funding of the organization.
With the bill to defund Planned Parenthood defeated in the Senate, it leaves states with the responsibility to take care of the issue themselves.
According to Breitbart News Network, Alabama, Louisiana and New Hampshire have already withdrawn all Planned Parenthood funding to the clinics in their states because their state senators voted for defunding the organization.
Those states that chose to stop funding Planned Parenthood are hurting the community of women who need or want an abortion. It is also hurting the women who use Planned Parenthood’s other services.  Abortion is a hard enough decision to deal with as a woman but to not have access to Planned Parenthood will make it an even harder.
Some of Planned Parenthood’s actions lately have made the public very skeptical about the organization. They provide a safe environment for women to get abortions and other services that other places do not offer. If women do not have a safe place to get abortions then they will turn to a more dangerous option of abortion such as getting it illegally done somewhere that is not safe.
Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that offers women many necessary health services they might be unable to receive elsewhere. Women deserve to have a place where they can go and feel comfortable in their own skin and not feel ashamed about asking for the services they deserve.
