Park hopeful to beat Southwest

According to head baseball coach Brian Kelly, Park’s first Section game is a competitive match up.
Kelly said Park recently beat Southwest and both teams strive to be successful in the playoffs.
“I am anticipating a really good close game. We played Southwest a week ago and beat them 2-1,” Kelly said. “They feel that this is the year they can make some noise in the playoffs. We feel this is the year we can make some noise in the playoffs.”
Senior captain Jacob Stillman said although the practice schedule was altered by the holiday weekend, the team prepared the same way for this game.
“We had a couple days off because of the long weekend and we were going to have practice on Memorial Day, but it got rained out so I expect us to be a little more rested for this game,” Stillman said. “Friday and Saturday practices were the same as usually, but we went over more game-like situations.”
Stillman said he is hopeful the season will continue after the game tonight.
“I think we have been playing good baseball at the right time so hopefully we will not be done with our season for a little while longer,” Stillman said.
Kelly said he is excited to see the team work hard for the final time during Sections.
“(I am) looking forward to getting it going and embracing the grind here and staying relentless in the playoffs,” Kellys said.
The Orioles take on Southwest at 4:30 p.m. May 29 at Hopkins High School.
