The Park boys swim team is starting up the season with more intense captain practices than in the past according Nathan Beneke, and is excited for the season to officially start up.

The boys swim team will start their first season in the new west metro conference coached by Joe Yeager and Amanda Forsberg.

Yeager said he is looking forward to the upcoming season and is expecting the team to place well in the new conference.

“I think the team will finish for sure top three, but have the potential to finish first,” Yeager said.

Captain and senior Nathan Beneke is changing captains practices from what they have been in years past.

“We’re planning on having more serious captains so everyone can know lane etiquette,” Beneke said.

Junior Ryan Casey as well as other team members have already started preparing for the boys season.

“Some of the guys are swimming club teams to help get in shape. I am working out on my own,” Casey said.

Casey also said he sees a lot of potential for the boys team in their new conference especially from the younger boys.

“We’re a young team, we have four all conference underclassmen and as long as we show up and put in work, we should do fantastic this season,” Casey said.

The Park boys swim team will officially start their season on December 1 and no tryouts are required.

Their first meet will be a relay meet consisting of the whole west metro conference December 11.
