Senior Lexi Lee to continue swimming at Division III level

After visiting Claremont McKenna in February, senior Lexi Lee said she decided to commit to swim for the college because of the atmosphere and location.
“I really like the school, and I will be able to swim on a swim team there as well. It’s also in California, which is an added bonus,” Lee said. “The team seemed very welcoming (as did) the whole college. It just seemed like a community that (I’d) love to visit and live at next year.”
Sophomore Lily Metzler said Lee works hard to improve as a swimmer and was a great teammate to have.
“She is a really great swimmer and she is so technically proficient (in her swimming). She is such a hard worker and always gives it her best effort, and she is also a really great teammate. I am really glad that I was able to swim with her,” Metzler said.
Park swimming coach Amanda Forsberg said Lee is a very driven athlete who puts in her best constantly
“She always wants to strive to be better. She puts in a lot of time and a lot of effort, and she really cares about the sport (and) her teammates. I think she will do really well in college,” Forsberg said.
According to Lee, she was motivated to continue swimming after high school because of her love for the sport and the opportunity to meet new people.
“I have been swimming since I was in sixth grade, and I loved the sport. I think swimming or doing any other sport in college is just a great way to meet people even before you get on campus,” Lee said.
Metzler said Lee was always sympathetic and uplifting toward her teammates.
“She was always so supportive and always so encouraging, and I think (that) really made it so much better for everyone on the team,” Metzler said.
Forsberg said Lee continuing to compete at the collegiate level is impressive and hopes she has a rewarding experience. “I think it’s great anytime an athlete can go on and still compete in college. It’s a great experience (and) I am excited for her,” Forsberg said.
