Despite losing to Waconia in three sets the day before, Park girl’s volleyball was able to come back Sep 21. After this win, head coach Sam Hanlon said a good team win was wanted, and that is what was needed.
“I am ecstatic for this win,” Hanlon said. “When Amara Schroeder got her 1000 assists tonight. We got a big win out of it and in three sets, it just feels good.”
According to senior Addison Chenvert, when teams have high emotions, it’s easy for the team to get swept up in the moment.
“A lot of times it’s easy for teams to get caught up in the moment and start to lose,” Chenvert said. “But we did really well at holding over throughout the whole game.”
According to junior Amara Schroeder, the goal of this game was to win and keep pushing themselves.
“The goal was to win,” Schroeder said. “And to communicate and make sure to stay positive and we achieved that.”
Chenvert said that team’s goal was to win and improve the mental component of the game
“Our goal was to win, of course, and we wanted to work on just the mental aspect of it,” Chenvert said. “We did pretty well because we were able to rebound quickly after we would lose a point.”
According to Hanlon, someone who stood out in today’s game was Schroeder, hitting her 1000 assists tonight.
“We really want to highlight Amara tonight. 1000 assists in your career is a big deal,” Hanlon said. “As a junior, to get that tonight really brings a sense of joy and like a community tonight.”
Schroeder said having her 1000 assists during this game meant alot.
“I feel really good about (getting 1000 assists) after putting a lot of work in,” Schroeder said, “and it feels so good to have this outcome of the game.”
After this big win, Hanlon said she has high hopes for this team to accomplish this season.
“The sky’s the limit with this team,” Hanlon said. “As long as we keep playing good, we’ll be good.”
Park’s volleyball team is set to face Minneapolis South next at 7:00 p.m. Sept. 26 at South High School.
