Tennis team comes into the season with improved confidence among players

This season the boys tennis team won every game they have played by a large number of points, continuing its winning streak from the last three years.

Although there have been many chances to show their skills, the team has been hindered by the amount of game cancellations due to weather problems.

Coach Casey Hermanson said weather cancellation impacts the team’s ability to practice their strategies during real games.

“If we are not playing, we can’t work on game strategies and it is very challenging,” Hermanson said.

Although the weather has impacted the number of games played at the beginning of the season, Hermanson said there is always time to reschedule games at the end, where time is left for cancelled games.

According to Hermanson the hardest thing to manage at the beginning of the season is the lack of games and the combination of partners in the doubles section.

“It’s all about finding the right doubles combination,” Hermanson said, “I think we have strong communication, it’s just seeing who pairs up well.”

Junior Aaron Goodman said doubles is the most critical part of the team this season and they need to find people who match up well.

“Every close match that we’ve had has been decided by the outcome of the doubles matches,” Goodman said.

When asked what the team needs work on, Hermanson said they lack the confidence in doubles partners to succeed.

“Our boys work well together in communication, I think we just need more confidence,” Hermanson said.

The tennis team hopes to lead another winning season with improved emphasis on  communication and confidence among its players.

The Tennis teams next match is April 29 against Breck school.
