With the season nearing its end, players anticipate a successful wrap up at sections, hoping to make it to the second day.
The team participated in its last conference match May 18 where they placed fifth overall out of eight teams, placing fourth in the entire conference.
According to junior and varsity member Mikey Segal, the last conference match was hard because of weather conditions and overall performance.
“It was a rough last conference match because we know we could do better but at the same time it shows us that at our worst we didn’t do that bad,” Segal said.
Although the team is disappointed, team members are working on preparing for sections by making adjustments in their game, according to Segal.
“I am looking forward to having a chance to make it to the second day of sections,” Segal said. “The team is trying to get all four scores in the 70s. We will be making adjustments to try to stay consistent.”
Senior Riley Knudson said the team is focusing on small alterations to further the its success at sections May 28.
“We are working on clubs and shots that gave us trouble throughout the year so we can be best prepared for sections,” Knudson said.
Knudson said he is looking forward to reclaiming himself after a difficult conference match.
“I am looking forward to redeeming myself after shooting one of my worst rounds of the year and I feel like the rest of the team feels about the same,” Knudson said.
According to head coach Greg Goddard, the team has been doing additional preparation for sections.
“We played the sections course to get a feel for it and I think it was good for the boys to get experience and feel comfortable for the upcoming sections meet,” Goddard said.
Goddard said he believes the team is very capable of continuing on to the second day of sections, as he said he believes every player has improved.
“This year’s team has a lot of depth and is very capable of getting low scores, and with that, I see the team advancing to the second day,” Goddard said. “It has been a very successful season.”
According to Segal the team has made many improvements since last season.
“It has been a relatively successful season and the team has definitely made an improvement from last year,” Segal said. “More players this year received all-conference and all-conference honorable mention.”
