Loss in sections game creates misery among team

With a record of 10-11, and in a standing of fifth in the conference, the boys’ baseball team lost against Orono, the lowest ranked team in its conference.

Assistant coach Danny Bissonette said the section game did not go as planned because of base stealing and not scoring more runs.

“Unfortunately the game did not go well. We had a few mental mistakes that took us out of a position to score runs,” Bissonette said. “Base running mistakes were the downfall. We literally ran ourselves out of the game when we missed third base when we should have scored a run which turned into an out.”

Senior Joey Jaramillo said the season had its ups and downs but in the end, the team did well.

“Overall (the season) was pretty good,” Jaramillo said. “We definitely could have had a better record than we did.”

Bissonette said during the season, the team played well against higher ranked teams in its conference, but did not play well against low ranked teams.

“We play well against good opponents but then the downfall was we played very poorly against bad opponents,” Bissonette said. “We played up to our competition but then we played down to our competition which ended up being the reason we lost in sections.”

The season ended May 21.
