Due to the cold weather, junior captain Grace Lynch said the girls’ lacrosse team has been pushed inside for their first week of the season.

“(The weather) is forcing us to be inside, and it is really frustrating because lacrosse is played outside, so if we are inside, we are out of our element and it is hard to judge people’s actual abilities,” Lynch said.

According to girls’ lacrosse coach Katie Gliske, practicing indoors has forced the team to come up with new solutions.

“It has definitely forced us to be flexible and creative with solutions because you have no other options. Things in life rarely go the way you plan it to so this is a good exercise in flexibility for everyone,” Gliske said.

Junior Halle Weinmann said playing inside has been difficult for the team due to the limited space.

“It has made it hard to do everything. We have been planning on going outside and practicing, and it is really hard in the gym,” Weinmann said “We have not been able to run our three mile run because we have not been able to go outside.”

According to Lynch, the weather delays will affect their already short season.

“Lacrosse is already a short season because we start at least one or two weeks after the other sports,” Lynch said. “Our first game is next week. It is hard too because we have not had much time to judge people’s abilities.”

Gliske said being indoors has prevented them from practicing certain drills.

“There are drills that we can’t do indoors, so it will compact everything that we need to do to get ready for our next game on Friday, but I do not think it will change anything too drastically,” Gliske said.

According to gopark.org, their first game will be at 5:30 p.m. April 13 at Hopkins High School.
