According to captain Grace Lynch who is a senior, she is excited for what the season has in store and playing her last season of lacrosse.

“I’m looking forward to playing with a new group of girls and finishing out senior year with lacrosse. It’s the best way to do it,” Lynch said.

Freshman Sydney Prince said the captains’ practices help players get a feel for what practices in the season are going to be like.

“I think it’s beneficial because you kind of know what you are going to be doing, like certain drills that you do are kind of complicated, so you have to know what you are doing,” Prince said.

Captain Halle Weinmann who is a senior said these practices help people get back into shape before tryouts start.

“I think it’s a good way to practice before the season starts and make sure everyone is getting in shape before we get into the season,” Weinmann said.

According to Lynch, her goal is to help the new players improve their skills and feel comfortable on the team.

“I want to help develop the new varsity players because we have a lot of returning players, but we’ll have a lot of open spots,” Lynch said. “So just working with those new girls making sure they’re comfortable in their position on the team.”

Weinmann said the attendance at captains’ practices is usually lower than at tryouts, but it shows who is interested in playing this season.

“It is usually a good indicator, but a lot of people end up showing up for tryouts that haven’t showed up at captains,” Weinmann said.

According to gopark.org, official practices begin April 1 and tryouts will be held April 8 and 9 at the stadium if weather permits.
