Crush hits the field for another season
Team excited to dig into spring
April 7, 2023
Even with the bitter cold Minnesota winter and lack of indoor practice space, Parks’ boys ultimate frisbee team has been practicing weekly in order to spring into their new season. Assistant coach Tyler Berg said he’s excited for the upcoming season due to the spirit and variety of players on the team.
“We’ve got a great group of kids and I love the culture that we’ve built as a program in general,” Berg said. “We’re a very inclusive group and supportive of each other while still good about keeping our heads straight.”
Senior Isaac Cantor said he’s appreciative of the opportunities to travel this season with his peers and coaching staff.
“The community is really great to be around,” Cantor said. “We’re going to a cool tournament this year and I love traveling with my team.”
Junior Aaron Casey-Fix said he’s looking forward to seeing how the team has progressed since last year and for the upcoming season.
“I’m really excited to get in the groove of things again,” Casey-Fix said. “Especially since our team has changed so much from last year, it’s going to be cool to see our progress.”
Berg said the team is going through a rebuilding period because of how many seniors graduated last year.
“We graduated a lot of seniors last season so we’re in a little bit of a rebuild, but we also have a lot of talent on the team,” Berg said. “(We’re) working through that hurdle of how to make practice beneficial for everybody.”
Cantor said practices are going well now that tryouts are over and he is eager to see where the talent of individual players carries the team.
“This practice was pretty fun now that everyone got all their jitters out at tryouts,” Cantor said. “These first couple practices really show the true test of the team and how the season is going to go.”
Casey-Fix said he has high hopes for the season as well as high expectations from previous years.
“This season will go pretty well, I know we have some high expectations but we’ve been working really hard,” Casey-Fix said. “It’s going to be challenging but fun at the same time.”
