Team looks to first scrimmage
With winter approaching, the varsity girls’ hockey team is hitting off its season with a scrimmage against Spring Lake Park Nov. 10.
Junior captain Anna Basill said she hopes the team will put a strong effort into the scrimmage.
“(I do not expect) 100% because this is the first game since last season, but I expect everyone to put their best out,” Basill said.
Sophomore hockey player Natalie Vig said she thinks the team has potential to see considerable achievement at the scrimmage.
“The coaches have high expectations of us,” Vig said. “If we go out there and ring it real hard we could do well.”
Though their season just started, the hockey players have begun daily practice to prepare for the scrimmage and the rest of the season.
“We are trying to get our talent up,” Basill said. “(The scrimmage) is basically a test to see what the team will look like this season.”
According to Vig, the hockey players’ improvement and determination could help them do well this year.
“We improved a lot last year and most of us have (practiced) over the summer to keep improving,” she said. “Most of us know what the coaches expect from us and are ready to do it.”
