Park’s boys hockey team faced off against Bloomington Jefferson and won 4-2 on Jan. 26. Park boys hockey will be heading to playoffs soon, and wins like these are building up confidence and momentum for them.
Head coach Tyler Brodersen said he thinks the team played well even with the weight of finals week on their shoulders.
“I think we played okay,” Broderson said. “It is always hard to play during finals week, but the guys grinded and found a way to come out on top.”
Senior Griffin Krone said the team is still trying to improve everyday to prepare for playoffs.
“We’re doing what we can do to get better each day and working on things we need to work on,” Krone said. “Getting our superstar Tony Kruse locked in (and) ready to go.”
According to junior Hayden Kasica, the team should be playing well throughout the entire game instead of stepping off the gas in moments.
“I think playing well throughout the whole game and not just having our ups and downs (is what we need),” Kasica said. “But overall, I am very happy with our team’s performance.”
According to Brodersen, the team is on the right path towards playoffs but still has work to put in.
“Our goal is to get better every day so when we get to the playoffs,” Brodersen said. “We’re on the right track but we still have plenty of work to do.”
According to Krone, the team could have played better, but they still figured out ways to win the game.
“It wasn’t our best game that we have ever played before but I think that we did a good job of figuring out how to win those types of games even when we don’t have our best,” Krone said.
According to Kasica, the team has been practicing and preparing hard for upcoming playoffs.
“We have been practicing hard,” Kasica said. “I think we’re winning sections this year. I think we are a very well-prepared team for the playoffs.”
Park’s next game is against Osseo 7:00 p.m. Jan. 30 at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center.
