Congress reflections

The U.S. Senate is composed of 100 members, two from each state. Only one seat was up for reelection Nov. 3, and the seat was won by incumbent senator Tina Smith. Smith has served as a senator since 2018 and will be up for reelection again in 2026.

The U.S. House of Representatives is composed of 435 members divided proportionally among states based on their populations. All eight representatives from Minnesota were up for reelection Nov. 3. The District five seat, which represents St. Louis Park as well as many other Minneapolis suburbs, was won by the incumbent representative Ilhan Omar. Omar has served since 2019 and will be up for reelection again in 2022, according to Ballotpedia.org.
