Filmakers showcase fly fishing world
Fly Fishing Film Tour gives insight into new waters
The fly fishing film tour stopped by Minneapolis on its 10th annual trip, giving local fisherman a chance to see new films from around the world.
According to Ryan Thompson, manager for the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), the film tour began as a small group of friends working together to make short films and expanded from there.
“This is our 10th year with taking the film tour on the road. It started in 2007 with just a couple of guys in an old Volvo riding around playing videos at a few fly shops,” Thompson said. “Each year it has grown bigger and bigger.”
Thompson said this year the F3T held the biggest set of premieres yet and collaborated with several nonprofit fishing organizations.
“This year we are having over 150 premieres around the country, more than we have ever had, and we are collaborating with Trout Unlimited, Casting for Recovery and more,” Thompson said
Thompson said the F3T team looks for several different criteria when selecting films to take on the road.
“We are looking for high quality filming, an underlying plot or story and new content not available anywhere else,” Thompson said.
