Concert culture on the rise

Many Park students turn to concerts for entertainment

Concerts have been a huge source of entertainment for years. They have been becoming more and more popular, especially among young adults and teenagers. With concerts on the rise, Park students and staff are enjoying the source of entertainment.

Junior Dominica Mora Zengel said she loves going to concerts because you get to really connect with the artists and the songs.

“It means seeing the people I love listening to on my phone, but in real life, so everyone who likes the songs are there, and we all get to celebrate the meanings of it,” Mora Zengel said. “It’s so fun.”

According to AP European teacher Emma Engebretson, the entire atmosphere is exciting and memorable. She said she loves seeing the artist live, as well as celebrating the artist with a bunch of other fans.

“I love singing along to my favorite songs and seeing the artist and their creativity live,” Engebretson said. “It’s a big art piece that you get to enjoy with a bunch of people that are also choosing to be there, which is a lot of fun.”

Mora Zengel said the size of concerts can impact the overall experience, and it can make each concert unique and special.

“In smaller ones you get better seating, but in the bigger ones, the artists can do a lot more with the crowd,” Mora Zengel said.

Sophomore Lyn Wingenbach said they would be willing to leave Minnesota in order to go to a concert.

“I would fly, probably not international, but I would fly somewhere in the US,” Wingenbach said.

Engebretson said the distance she would go to see certain artists depends on the cost of tickets, travel and who the artist is.

“If one of my friends had gotten tickets to Taylor Swift internationally, I probably would have considered that,” Engebretson said.

Wingenbach said that although they enjoy going to concerts, they would have certain limits for how much they would spend to go.

“It depends on how much you enjoy the artists and how much they really mean to you,” Wingenbach said. “There are definitely limits.”

Mora Zengel said she has been to many concerts. Although she loves concerts, she only goes if she likes the artists.

“I mainly just go if I like the band because I don’t want to pay all the money just to go,” Mora Zengel said.
