From the near-instant connection by the school windows to the seemingly dead zone that is the park cafeteria, the school’s Wi-Fi is very inconsistent, making it impossible to know when you will be able to get a Wi-Fi connection, if at all. Many have suggested that Park should acquire Wi-Fi and make the connection better throughout the entire school. I believe the benefits of getting better Wi-Fi for the school would be immense. These would include provisioning faster access to learning resources such as Powerschool and Schoology for students at all times and support for modern learning tools. Better Wi-Fi ensures these tools work smoothly, improving learning experiences such as online quizzes and interactive activities for students, and better online cooperation between students, allowing for group projects that often rely on tools like Google Docs. Stronger Wi-Fi helps students collaborate in real time without disconnections or slow loading.
The first main reason for having better Wi-Fi for students is that it provides faster access to learning resources. If students have faster access to learning resources online, it will reduce the wait time when loading websites or videos, saving class time and allowing the teacher to get through their entire lesson, doing all they need to do. Students having faster access also make it easier for them to do what the teacher has assigned because they will be able to load everything in class quicker and, as a result, have less work to do at home. Overall, having better Wi-Fi in the building allows students and teachers to have faster and more reliable access to our many resources online, greatly reducing the time wasted on poor network connections and increasing the efficiency and work that can be done in school.
Another major reason why having better Wi-Fi for students at Park is very important is the need for support from modern learning tools online. As the world moves more and more into an online era, schools do the same and have done the same with more and more activities being moved online to keep up with the world. Almost all classes utilize online work on a weekly basis, and better internet would do well to assist this. Teachers use many sites for both assignments, tests and interactive sites, and having reliable internet can be crucial for whether the lesson goes as planned or not. Along with work in class moving increasingly towards total online dependence, so do the AP tests. This year, AP tests are entirely online, making the importance of an online connection that much more crucial. This year and for years to come, a good Wi-Fi connection could make all the difference for a student’s success in class.
Lastly, a final important reason why having better Wi-Fi for Park students is needed is that it improves online collaboration between students and teachers. Having better wifi would prove beneficial because it prevents lag and disconnections during real-time collaboration on documents or presentations. Additionally, group projects often rely on tools like Google Docs, educational videos, or shared drives. Faster Wi-Fi improves teacher feedback speed, especially when reviewing group work online. Ultimately, stronger Wi-Fi helps students work with one another without disconnections or slow loading.
In conclusion, improving the school’s Wi-Fi would have a great and positive impact on our learning capabilities. From faster access to resources and smoother use of online tools to better collaboration among students and teachers, strong internet is no longer a luxury, but rather a necessity. With more and more schoolwork moving online, reliable Wi-Fi makes sure that every student has what they need to succeed in today’s online learning environment.
