What’s your role at this school?
“My role at (Park) is Admin Assistant. I help with all of the attendance. I help with our visitors, people coming in and out of this school (and) communication between the administrators, classrooms, teachers, parents and students.”
When did you start? When and why did this position open up?
“I started April 28. The position opened up when Mary (Strouts; the former admin) left for a new job, and as a building sub, I was asked to step into the role. I was in love with what I was doing and really enjoyed it, so I decided to apply for it, and (I) went through the interview process and was selected for the job.”
What made you decide to take this job at Park?
“I have enjoyed building relationships with students and getting to see their growth over the semester as a substitute, and I’m excited to be able to continue those relationships in the office and also have more of an admin assistant role, (spending) less (time) in the classroom and more (time) as an administrator.”
What’s your favorite part about this job so far? What about the most challenging?
“My favorite part is seeing a bunch of new faces in and out of the office and getting to know students outside of the classroom (and in) activities they’re involved in. The most challenging part is definitely learning on the fly, problem-solving and looking for solutions, (and) trying to find answers to questions with the guest or visitor at the same time. Balancing and finding ways to manage my time with attendance while also making sure that everybody who visits the high school is having a pleasant experience, and making sure that our students are staying safe and staying in class and getting to class on time (is challenging).”
What are 3 words you would use to describe your experience at Park so far?
“Electric, collaborative and exhilarating.”
What did you do before coming to Park?
“After graduating college, I started substitute teaching throughout the Twin Cities area. I did that for about a year and a half, and then I joined as a building sub in March of 2025.”
