German Club prepared for the holiday season

Members make gingerbread houses

As German teacher Shari Fox cleans the desks in her room after school, she describes what activities will take place at the next German Club meeting.

“We are going to make gingerbread houses, (it is) five bucks if you want to participate,” Fox said.

Fox said German Club does not have official members, and instead students can come when they would like, as long as they let her know before Friday, Dec. 9.

“Nobody can ever commit to coming every time. Come when you can, I put the invite out there and I expect people to pay me for supplies and then they show up when they can. Once a month we meet and if you can come, that’s great,” Fox said.

Senior Emma Gruye said she attends German Club whenever she can.

“I really like German, it’s one of my favorite classes and it’s something that I’m very passionate about is learning other languages,” Gruye said. “ For me, German is a really fun class and something I find really relaxing and so hanging out with other people that share that passion for learning other languages.”

According to Fox, the club is for German students and their friends.

“It’s not necessarily opened to everyone because I can’t handle more than 20 people alone; especially with the kind of stuff that I do, it’s really intensive work so that last thing I want is to be flooded with 50 kids all by myself,” Fox said.

Gruye said she plans to attend the next German Club meeting.

“I’m really excited about (it). I always try to get as many friends to go as I can,” Gruye said.

The next German Club meeting will take place Dec. 12 in B241.
