When junior Erika Wilson found out DECA plans on holding the Sadie Hawkins dance in the fieldhouse this year, she felt excited because more students might attend.

Wilson said more students will attend because the tickets are cheaper compared to last year and food is provided, unlike Homecoming and SnoDaze.

“I feel since it’s less money more people will go and I’m happy they’re saying that they got food because a lot of people complain that the other dances didn’t have food,” Wilson said.

DECA co-adviser Sophia Ross said they decided to hold the dance in the fieldhouse because it’s cheaper and easier for students to attend.

“The dance is in the fieldhouse at the high school to make it more convenient and affordable for students, which makes it equitable,” Ross said.  “We booked the field house through Community Education in the district office. There were no other events going on in the fieldhouse that evening.”

DECA’s other adviser, Sally Adams, said tickets are $10, or $8 if students bring two non-perishable food items for the Bird Feeder.

Ross said DECA plans to give out prizes for the best costumes. She said the dance and will have a DJ and a band.

“We have not actually secured our prizes yet but we are hoping to give a restaurant and movie theater gift card to the couple or group with the best costumes,” Ross said.

“Joe Holloway will be the DJ and ZAZZ Music will be performing.”

Wilson said she plans on going to the dance to have a great experience.

“I’m going because I like dancing and my friends like to go and have fun,” Wilson said.

The Sadie Hawkins dance will be held from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 3 in the fieldhouse.
