Jewish and non-Jewish students debate timely topics

In response to the recent IB 20th Century Issues propaganda project, in their last meeting, the Jewish Student Union (JSU) debated the appropriateness of the project and its impact.

Rabbi Tzvi Kupfer, director of Minneapolis JSU and leader of the group’s meeting, wanted to allow students to express their personal reactions about the issue in an appropriate setting.

“I wanted to have an open healthy discussion to allow students to express opinions about their personal feelings,” Kupfer said.

Senior Henry Goldman, a fourth year member of JSU, felt a particular connection to the controversy over the lesson and thought the debate was valuable.

“Personally, I felt a strong tie to this issue. I think it was nice to express both sides on the issue and to get a feel for how other people felt about the lesson,” Goldman said.

The group’s next meeting is from 3:20 to 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 13 in room B134. Complimentary sushi and cookies are provided. All are welcome and encouraged to come.
