While many students went about their normal school day, Special Education students and faculty attended a Halloween themed dance.

According to Special Education staff member Christine Tvrdik, the dance is hosted by Transition Plus, an organization that works with students after they graduate high school.

“When they graduate from here that is where they go, to the transition program. It’s a nice way for the kids to be over there and be with the kids they will be with next year,” Tvrdik said.

Tvrdik said the students participated in a variety of activities while at the dance.

“There’s a DJ, who is an alumni of Transition Plus, he graduated from there,” Tvrdik said. “They get pizza, we do lunch with them.”

According to Tvrdik, students attended events in the past at Transition Plus.

“Last year we did a spring dance over there and this year,” Tvrdik said. “They decided to do halloween because it was pretty fun.”

Tvrdik said students from Minnetonka High School and Hopkins High School also attended.

Senior Miguel Ocampo said he felt the event served as a good opportunity for the students.

“I think it’s good that they get to have a feel for what to expect next year,” Ocampo said. “Now they can have some confidence going into it.”
