Science highlighted to all ages

Family Science Night to offer entertainment, education

From chemistry to physics, this year’s Family Science Night will offer a wide variety of activities making it fun for volunteers and families, according to coordinator Al Wachutka.

Wachutka said the night is entertaining to all because of the different activities and projects Park students created for this night.

“We will be doing hands-on science activities,” Wachutka said. “Physics, chemistry and biology do their own projects under the direction of their class.”

According to Wachutka, Family Science Night is a great opportunity for students to volunteer and practice their presentation skills.

“Volunteers will be running lab stations, setting up and cleaning up,” Wachutka said. “Some volunteers will be running the stations with little kids, so they can work with public speaking.”

Sophomore Meili Liss said volunteering for Family Science Night is an opportunity to be a part of the community by interacting with all age groups.

“I volunteered last year and had a lot of fun,” Liss said. “It is something to do after school instead of just sitting around watching TV.”

Junior Jada Csikos-Monroe said she made a project with her IB chemistry group for the event and hopes everyone will gain more knowledge from it.

“Its important for kids to learn about science, and it makes it fun for the kids if it’s an event like this with their family,” Csikos-Monroe said.

Volunteer sign-up sheets are posted outside of A315 and are open to any student.

The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 5 in the new gym.
