New changes to the girls’ varsity lacrosse team will result in new conference, along with a loss of seniors, according to head coach Kyle Sweeney.

Sweeney said the new conference will affect the team as the competition is new to the players.

“We don’t really know what the teams are like,” Sweeney said. “We might go to some games and watch other teams play before we play them and we’ve never done that before.”

Senior varsity lacrosse captain Maddie Brown said although the new conference will affect the team, especially with the loss of senior players, the team will pull through and the captains will be able to lead.

“Me and my other captains have been playing together for four years so I think we will be able to lead the team just like they have in the past,” Brown said.

Sweeney said the team will be different without the seniors, but they plan to play as best as they can.

“We’re going to have a new goalie, which might be kind of difficult, but the team will play better,” Sweeney said. “I think that we’ll have a different experience but its not going to be a worse team. Were just hoping to play our best and have a winning record.”

The season officially starts the week after spring break on April 6.
