When did you start playing golf? I first started playing in second grade.   Does your height affect how you play golf? I’m 5’11, but my height is not my strong point. Theoretically it should help me hit the ball further, but I don’t think it gives me much of an advantage.   What are your goals as captain this season? My main goal is to get the younger girls to continue developing their skills. We gained a lot of freshman last year so I hope to keep them excited and wanting to come back and keep playing for the team.   Do you have any pre-match rituals? Before matches our team writes inside jokes on each others balls. It’s a fun thing to do and it helps ease the pre-match tension.   Are there any personal challenges you think you might face during the season? I just want to be a good role model and inspire the younger players to want to keep playing and keep trying, because it’s a frustrating sport.   What are some of the frustrations new golfers will face and how will you help them overcome these challenges? Mentally, you can have a really bad day and that can make you want to stop golfing all together. But just being able to make fun of yourself and laughing it off helps a lot. My goal is to be optimistic and help them.   What is your favorite part of golfing? I really like being outside and how every course is different. Also you get to be in a really pretty golf course with your friends.   How will you push yourself and the other girls as a new captain this season? Keeping a positive attitude and also helping the girls notice what they can improve on. Then the next day at practice, focusing on those things so they can become better golfers.   What are some of the benefits from playing golf? It makes you mentally tough. The game is more mental than people think. Being able to calm yourself down can be applied to other difficult situations as well.
