Rihanna performed in the latest halftime show Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, and many say she didn’t disappoint. She performed for the first time in five years with about 12 songs. The performance was about 13 minutes long and all she brought on stage with her was a set of dancers.

I really enjoyed the song choice and I also thought the overall performance was amazing. I loved how upbeat each song was and enjoyed how much the crowd was getting into it.  It started off a little slow, but it got better as I watched. I think that starting off with “B—- Better Have My Money” was honestly underwhelming. There were other songs throughout her performance that were much better than this song.

My favorite part of Rihanna’s performance was her last four songs. I thought they saved the performance and were a perfect way to end it off. She should have stuck to one of those end songs  in the beginning to break that slow start, but other than that, I still think her song choice was very strong.

I thought the visual effects were really unique with the platforms and everything. I thought the choreography of the dance was really good with the dancers. With there being so many, it brought the dance together. I also thought their outfits were really funny at first, but it ended up working well with the overall performance. The marshmallow-like dancers surprised me that they didn’t end up doing something crazy during the performance.

One of the few things I would change would be to have the dancers doing something other than just dancing. There were never really any wow moments when watching the performance so I think that would have benefited her performance. The only other change I would make to her performance would be to include a guest singer. There were many different options of people she could have brought out and the internet was rumbling with guesses. It was a disappointment to not have there be a guest singer because it would have benefited the performance.

One thing that interested me about the performance was that everyone on the internet wasn’t worried about how she did. This is interesting because it’s all the internet was worried about, asking all these different questions and spreading all these rumors about her.

The only thing that ended up swirling around the internet about the performance was, “is she pregnant.” This was confirmed to be true, but it caused an uproar all over the internet after the performance. It’s flat-out crazy to me that society was more worried about her pregnancy than how she actually did in the performance. She was more underrated on how she performed than everybody thinks, because no one was worried about how she ended up doing.

I would recommend listening to this half time performance again. I think the performance was very well-put-together and overall successful. There are not many things I would change after listening to it over and over again. It feels like it got better after each time playing it and I stayed interested throughout almost the whole thing. Overall, Rihanna’s song choice stood out to me and I thought it was a very cool performance.

There were very minor changes I would prefer to make to enhance the performance to perfection. She did a very good job on cramming all of these songs into only a 13-minute performance and I loved the fast pace. I would recommend everyone watch this halftime show.
